Flickr and related technology

Flickr was interesting; I haven't had time to explore it enough to judge why it claims to be the "best online photo management and sharing application in the world." I use Picassa to store and edit my photos (although I am extremely remiss in actually organizing them -- a task for 2008!). I need to explore this more because I'm acquiring an upgraded camera and want to use it to the max.

I was somewhat confused by "retriev" and its promises. I uploaded a photo of a black bear, and the images it provided to mirror my photo were of landscapes, a bunny, a lily, a bride, and various other female and feline characters. Did I do something wrong?

I commented on The Floridian's blog, specifically on her great Santa photo with canine friend.

RSS

I created a Bloglines account and subscribed to a bunch of newsfeeds on libraries and gardening, as well as to a couple from the Sun-Sentinal and the Unshelved cartoon feed. My public subscriptions can be found at http://www.bloglines.com/public/ncole. The amount of information out there is a bit daunting, but I can see where focusing in on some topic feeds could be extremely useful in life and work.

7 AND 1/2 LIFELONG LEARNING HABITS

Viewing problems positively as challenges to be taken on and learned from is not always so easy. Technology, on the other hand, is sometimes a problem for me but also a challenge that can definitely advance one's grasp on the world. From listening to audio books (easy -- I do two at a time -- car and treadmill) to creating a blog (easy initially but this is just the beginning), to creating imaginative and user-friendly web pages (much more work and complicated) -- there's technology and then there's technology!

Better late than never

Someone has to bring up the rear.
But my first blog leads me to cheer:

Hooray for the first task,
and is it too much to ask,

to let me continue to create
during the early days of 2008.
